Natural Uist Glaze
The delicate textures of the Hebridean beach pebbles and tile mosaics are highlighted with the use of this unique local material as a glaze.
The raw material is collected straight out of the ground on our croft in North Uist. It is then prepared, simply by adding water, and applied as a wash onto the surface of the clay.
The stoneware firing process, reaching temperatures of 1260C, releases the wonderful rich glassy iron & chestnut tones that you see before you. A unique reminder of your visit to the Hebrides.
